This baby shower quickly became one of my favorite events I've ever been a part of. One glance at the photos by Brittny Rene will show you why. When the hostess mentioned wanting a flower installation of the baby's name, I got SO excited. I'd never done anything like that and I was eager to give it a try.
I collaborated with Ginger Lindsey of Swan Lindsey Lettering on the invitation design. As usual, she imagined up a perfectly adorable design and I had the task of creating it. The baby's name on the invitation was a combination of Ginger's hand lettering and a digital overlay of a floral print. We were GIDDY with effect it created. The envelopes were addressed and decorated by Ginger as well.
Now onto the lemons... oh the lemons! I spotted these beauties when I was picking up the last of the flowers for the arrangements. They immediately reminded me of the peaches I used in a previous baby shower. Seeing the bright yellow with all of the other spring colors we were using, I knew I wanted to try and work them in. This was an impulse decision and I'm so happy that the hostess was OK with it. As with the peaches, I used heavy duty skewers to insert them into the arrangements.
It will be difficult for other events to rival this one. Bright colors, fun fruits, and a black and white striped background are ALL winners in my book. Also, when you take your curtains off the walls to use them as backdrops, you know you're committed to the project!
