We were so excited when we found out we would be doing our first baby shower for TWINS! This special Peach-and-Gold baby shower was a creative collaboration between several very talented ladies. The mom-to-be was expecting twin girls and the babies names, Georgia and Golda, were the inspiration for the shower theme. Georgia is famous for their peaches and Golda, of course, means gold. So there you have it, a ready made shower theme!
The invitations were a collaboration between Ginger Lindsey, of Swan Lindsey Lettering, and myself. She had the vision for the design and did the beautiful hand lettering on the scroll, the honoree's name, and on the envelopes. I water colored the peaches and designed the invitation. Ginger is by far my favorite person to collaborate on invitations with. Her work is always top notch.
The mom-to-be is all about spring and floral prints, so decadent flowers were a must have. The shower was in September-- teetering on that line between summer and fall. So it was the perfect chance to bring together two of Mother Earth's perfect treasures: peaches and pumpkins! I love pumpkins so much. Add a little gold spray paint and I'm in pumpkin heaven. However, peaches in a floral arrangement was a new venture for me. I ended up using two heavy duty skewers in each peach to secure them in the arrangements. Peaches are surprisingly heavy! It was well worth the effort though because they turned out darling and everyone was buzzing about the peaches in the flowers. They lasted about 4 days in the arrangement before they started to go bad, which was longer than I anticipated!
Other shower details that were too precious to not mention included some special handmade gifts. The first was a gift for the mom to be. Our wonderful friend Kelly, of Dear Heart, used the original water colored peaches from the invitation to do beautiful hand lettering of the twins' names. We had it framed and it now sits in the girls' nursery. The second gift is the party favors-- two pairs of handmade peach and gold earrings for each guest! These little treats were made by Jessa, of Live the Blessing.
This shower was so fun to work on. Every hostess brought so many great ideas to the table and we had such a wonderful time celebrating and showering our friend. Please forgive all of the iPhone photos... The shower was in Nashville and traveling with flowers and doing a lightning fast set up didn't leave much time for styled photo shoots. But I know you'll understand. ;-)
