If you don't know what Galentines Day is, let me fill you in. It is a holiday created by Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler) on the TV show Parks and Recreation. It's a day to celebrate all of your best gal-pals and shower each other with tasty food and treats. To quote Leslie, "Oh, it's only the best day of the year!" Leslie Knope was one lady who truly knew how to love on her friends!
Another lady who has this concept all figured out is Bertha, of Chic in Academia! She planned an evening for her friends full of delicious food, champagne, cakes, flowers, photography and swag bags. A perfect excuse to get all dressed up with friends! I was so excited when she asked me to design flowers for this dinner-party-turned-styled-shoot. Bertha pulled together some super talented ladies who harnessed their creative forces into an absolutely picturesque dinner party. Be sure and check out her full post about throwing the event!
For flowers, I did all shades of pink with just a touch of white, and gilded eucalyptus to add a really special element. I wanted the flowers to be feminine, bold, and full of character-- just like the ladies they were meant to be celebrating. For the place settings, I had a crazy idea that I wanted to try out. I designed the place card flowers to double as floral hair pieces by making them on alligator clips. This way, once everyone found their seat, they could put some flowers in their hair, if they felt so inclined. It was a really fun way to get a double use out of the place setting flowers. Plus, who doesn't love to have flowers in their hair?!
